Owners: Roger and Wendy Wadstein
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye

We are Roger and Wendy Wadstein of Calgary, Alberta. We were married in May of 1988 and we have been members since 1987.

The car you see here is our 1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye, serial number JH23H2______. It was profiled once before in June 1988 before we had the paint and bodywork done. Since then we have added a rear wing spoiler, window louvers, hood locks, strobe stripes and mud flaps. (The traction bars are useless and will be coming off.)

We purchased the Challenger in Abbotsford, British Columbia on July 18th, 1986 from the original owner for $4400.

Original factory-installed options and accessories include: 340 V-8 engine, A-833 manual 4 speed transmission, 3.23 suregrip differential, high impact FY1 Lemon Twist paint, F70x14" raised white letter tires (replaced by "Challenger" E60x14 rwl tires), dual painted racing mirrors, front disc power brakes, rear window defogger, rallye instrument cluster with clock, AM push-button radio, rear seat speaker, 14" road wheels, heavy duty suspension and white body side dual paint stripes which were not supposed to be available on the Rallye but appear on the broadcast sheet (replaced by black strobe stripes).

The total original price for these options was $1075.50, not including stripes. The total original price was $5795.00 from what we can tell, but it has been appraised at $9500.00 as of November 1989.

We only drive it during the summer months, usually on weekends and it's been to about seven shows, but no prizes yet. We are guessing that it runs between the high thirteen to low fourteen second bracket, judging from our competition. We plan to have the motor finished this summer and to get some actual track times.

It's a nice car to drive (except for the noise), but a good rebuild and some factory manifolds should remedy this, and it will make a good cruising car.
