It seemed like a good idea at the time! Our show date (August 19th) began as an overcast, gloomy looking day (darn) driving two convertibles with the tops down & half way there experiencing rain drops on the windshield (damn). By the time we entered the Capitol Hill Community Association venue it was actually rain- ing (double damn)! Besides using a chamois on the exteriors, we also had to do the interiors of both convertibles. Not a great way to start a car show, particularly since Calgary had experienced one of our warmest, rain free summers of all time! But all was not lost! Soon the gloomy clouds parted, giving way to some blue sky & sunshine. It did nothing but improve from that point on and became a great weather day for our 28th annual all Mopar show & shine. Thank you weather gods!
The parking brigade, led by Brian & Paul, ably assisted by Bob & Wayne, were kept busy parking nearly 140 Mopar vehicles before the day was half done! Registration, headed by Corynn & Rosie, accomplished their chores admirably. Neale & Wayne contributed the judge’s results, which were tallied by Jacinta & family in record breaking time. Karen with the T shirt gang, sold the majority of our show shirts and Lara, Lydia & the youth paddlers prepared the delicious burgers & dogs. A special thanks to Bill Knecht for an excellent job of announcing the door prizes & awards.
Louise was her normal efficient self in preparing the many great door prizes obtained from sponsors & club members. Brenda S. organized the 50/50 draw & even managed to win part of it, much to her delight & chagrin! Our bartender Trevor, apparently enjoys looking after our needs, as he has for many years now. We thank our many sponsors for the excellent trophy plaques & prizes, which their donations make possible. Also, all our great volunteers. Pokey & Brenda organized a great cruise on Saturday, Sept. 2nd which was attended by seven members.
As a closing note, Northern Mopars thanks Kelly Folk (Fixed Operations Manager) & Robert Smith (Parts Manager) of Renfrew Chrysler for host- ing their annual show & sale on September 9th. Great bargains were scooped up by many members, with 35 vehicles attending this event.
Thanks to all who participated in our 28th annual & the Renfrew show!
